About Tiers of Joy:
Tiers of Joy was created in 2004 by owner and designer Sharon Smith. Sharon started Tiers of Joy out of her passion for creating beautiful cakes for any occasion. Tiers of Joy is committed to producing custom made cakes that are as delicious as they are beautiful. They create extraordinary cakes for weddings, birthdays, showers, anniversaries, and any celebration that requires a creative showpiece and a delectable finale.
At Tiers of Joy, Sharon will personally meet with couples to let them taste sample cake flavors, talk about the style of their upcoming event, and discuss ideas for the perfect cake to match their perfect day. Sharon often gets design motivation from the couple’s invitation, reception site, floral designs, and even the bride’s dress.
About the designer:
Upon graduating from UC San Diego, Sharon enrolled in the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco. While attending her baking and pastry classes at the academy, Sharon was also working for a bakery in Marin County where she learned of her talent of decorating cakes. When Sharon graduated with honors from the California Culinary Academy, she went to work for a well respected wedding cake company in San Francisco. During her work there, Sharon perfected her decorating techniques and learned many tricks of the trade. In 2004 Sharon opened Tiers of Joy, located now, in San Rafael, CA.
